Businesses routinely rely on professional advisers (e.g. solicitors, accountants, surveyors, etc) for expert advice.  Sometimes the professional advisers get it wrong, particularly as the complexity of the work undertaken by them is increasing. 

In general, professional negligence takes place where the adviser fails to perform his / her responsibilities to the required standard.  The claim(s) against the adviser may be based on one or more of the following:
