Bringing Law to Life

DBS ladies hit the ground running

A team of nine ladies from DBS law took to the streets of Birmingham this week to join the Race for Life.  The 5 kilometre race attracted thousands of women from around the West Midlands to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.  It was the first time the city had played host to the event.

There was a sea of pink in Cannon Hill Park on Wednesday night as the competitors waited eagerly for the starting gun. There were plenty of pink faces after the race to match the colourful kit that was on display. Running wasn’t compulsory but the DBS girls wanted to put on a good show and the leaders of the pack crossed the finishing line in just 25 minutes.  “We all had a great time tonight, it was great to be part of this all women event to raise money for such an important cause,” said trainee solicitor Alison Collins.

Whether they ran, jogged or just strolled everyone in the DBS team gave their all and raised a ton of money for the charity.  They all said they’d do it all again next time hopefully with even more DBS ladies out on the town.  Accounts assistant Gurpreet Kaur said “I did the race for life for all those who are suffering and those who have already suffered cancer,  it’s a very rewarding event which made me feel great about myself knowing I was doing something to help people whose lives are ruined by this terrible disease”.
