BIKERS NEEDED AS BIKE4LIFE REVS UP FOR ITS SECOND YEAR
Calling all bikers from XX and beyond. Organisers of a charity ride-out planned for 26th June (2011) are inviting the motorbike community to join in a special ride-out to raise much needed funds for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
The Bike4Life ride-out will cover over 80 miles of some of the best biking road network across Worcestershire and the Cotswolds and is being organised in association with DBS Law.
Now in its second year, Bike4Life will kick off at midday from the Worcester Warriors Rugby Stadium, with registration opening at 8am. The ride-out is free to enter but participants will be asked to make a voluntary donation to the Air Ambulance Charity.
The event has also received support from Kerrang! Radio, M6 Toll, Michelin and RoadChef along with the three emergency services: West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Fire Service.
“More than half of all incidents we respond to each year are road traffic accidents, many of which unfortunately involve motorcyclists,” explains Bike4Life Event Manager Stef Langford-Brown of the Midlands Air Ambulance.
“So we have a strong association with the motorbike community and have received a great deal of support from them over the years. Bike4Life was a huge success last year so we’re hoping our second annual ride-out will be just as good if not better!”
The charity ride will be led out by Head of Employment Law at DBS, Paul Griffin, riding his 600cc Yamaha Thundercat as part of the DBS community outreach project which encourages staff to participate in charitable activities across the region.
Bike fan Paul says: “DBS Law is proud to be associated with the Midlands Air Ambulance and with this great event. We deal with the results of road accidents every day and we know that prompt treatment at the scene of a crash can mean the difference between a life saved and a life destroyed.”
Midlands Air Ambulance celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, marking two decades of airlifting seriously ill people to hospital across the Midlands.
Anyone wishing to join the Midlands Air Ambulance ride-out can register online at www.midlandsairambulance.com/bike4life and via the Bike4Life facebook page, or contact Stef Langford-Brown on 0800 840 2040 or email bike4life@midlandsairambulance.com.
