It may sound a bit like locking the stable door after the horse has bolted but Family Law expert Farhat Akbar says that when a couple are divorcing the best thing they can do is talk. As the summer wedding season gets underway Birmingham based DBS Law is introducing a new service to help clients end a marriage without the usual pain and acrimony.
Introducing the new collaborative family law service on her blog, http://dbslaw.wordpress.com Farhat Akbar explains that by avoiding long adversarial correspondence between their solicitors, couples can achieve a softer emotional landing for themselves and their families. They can save a lot of money too by not going through expensive contested court proceedings, in respect of their divorce.
The collaborative approach to divorce still requires both parties to use the services of a solicitor but the negotiations are done face to face. All meetings are arranged at the convenience of the client. No need to endure a long tense wait for a final painful show down. Most importantly of all the collaborative approach significantly reduces the stress put on the couple’s children.
Farhat Akbar says “Collaboration won’t work for every divorcing couple but it is suitable for far more couples than are currently using it. We at DBS Law will now be actively promoting this option to our clients going through divorce to ease their emotional distress and hopefully save them money.”
